How do I identify a polished texture?

Polished Concrete Tile are given a glossy smooth finish by processing the paver in a polishing machine where a disk grinds the surface, at a high speed, of a concrete tile.

When the concrete tile has undergone a process of being polished, it is known as an exposed aggregate finish.

Where is polished concrete paving usually used?

Polished concrete paving is usually used in pedestrian areas, usually in conjunction with other textures to provide a beautiful pattern. A polished tile and shotblast tile in the same colour will have different hues of that same colour. Polished tiles are utilised on borders, and part of water features.

Polished concrete paving can also be installed indoors. The glossy smooth surface makes it a perfect option for malls, shops and other internal spaces.

What quality standards do AIM follow?

AIM's range of paving tiles and blocks conform to and exceed the BS-EN 1339 standard and are known for its superior quality.

We achieve this by manufacturing hydraulically pressed products, using wet mix concrete technology, not allowing for any honeycombing to occur and therefore producing a market leading quality to be proud of.

AIM are capable of manufacturing a large variety of sizes in different thicknesses. Over the past 12 years we have built our mould range up to cater for the growing demands and requirements of the Saudi market. We are able to manufacture odd thicknesses due to our wet mix technology.

In addition to the moulds we have amassed, AIM have invested in producing our own line of cutting machines. AIM utilise cutting machines to provide smaller dimensions such as 100x100mm or odd shapes such as quadrilaterals.

How do I maintain my polished paving?

AIM quality standards mean that the product is structurally sound and the colour will last as long as it is installed using AIM Installation Guidelines.

For small areas, we recommend using a specialised cleaning agent which can be procured from the likes of Karcher, and use a jet washing machine to take of the layer of dirt on top. This process should be done at least once a year. To ensure the shine of your polished pavers remain, a specialised contractor should be called in to polish your paving too.

For larger areas, we recommend using a sit-on machine, using the same chemical, at least once a year.

Follow instructions on the chemical product to ensure the product does not stain or diminish the texture of the product.

As a final measure, if the paving has become too old and stained, since AIM products are a singular mix from top to bottom, meaning the colour and concrete in general are consistent from top to bottom, so there is no harm in polishing the paving over the many years as you would natural stone.

AIM work with a handful of trusted contractors to carry out these services. Drop us a call or email to inquire for further information.
